crochet log cabin afghan?

I guess this is a dumb question but I was wondering about trying to crochet a log cabin afghan. I was looking at the knitted ones in Mason Dixon knitting Book and I really like the look, but I really would prefer to try crocheting it say in a single crochet stitch. What do you all think? Any reommened patterns out there?
