Hi fellow knitters - I just found this site yesterday and couldn't wait to join! I learnt to knit from my mother when I was four years old in Scotland (I'm 56 now). When my sons were growing up I didn't knit much, but about ten years ago I started again and virtually haven't stopped since. I'm looking forward to browsing here and getting to know how it all works!

Hi and welcome from California! You have so much experience knitting! Wow! I've only been knitting about 10 years (has it already been that long?) and love it. I hope to teach my kids once they are old enough so they can have a lifetime of knitting. Glad you are here!

Welcome caros! This is a great place to get support, help, or just the companionship of fellow knitters. We're about the same age, and I just picked the needles up about 9 years ago, after a 25 year lapse. Enjoy the forums!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! Judy, my favourite projects at the moment are little items for my new baby grandson Zachary (Zac) who is 7 months old now, but really I love knitting just about anything. There are still so many challenges for me in knitting - that is why I love this hobby so much. For example I have never really got into fair isle knitting and this is something I would love to attempt. I can remember my mother making cardigans and hats etc., with fair isle patterns, for my sister and myself when we were little girls and she always made such a good job of them. I know how to do it, but somehow I end up making other easier patterns!

Welcome from a fellow West Aussie - I live in Boyup Brook about three and a half hours south of Perth. If you visit Woolly Lattes in Wembley keep a look out for my tea cosies. Regards, Alison |

Hi Alison - I love Woolly Lattes! I haven't been there recently, but the next time I go I will definitely keep an eye out for your tea cosies. Thank you for your welcome message. :)

Hi Caros, Welcome from another Aussie across the continent in Temora, New South Wales. This is an excellent site. I thought I knew all about knitting when I joined many years ago but boy was I wrong. I have learned heaps from all the wonderful people here.

Thank you so much! Isn't the internet wonderful? I can't believe how many knitters there are around the world and only a tiny fraction get to go on websites! I love looking at all the projects people knit - it is so inspiring. :)

Thanks Rose, I really appreciate your welcoming words! I lived in Melbourne from the ages of 6-13 years. My family emigrated from Scotland in 1962 and we travelled on the P & O liner 'Oronsay'. :)

Hi caros, and welcome to the KR forums! I'm from Baltimore in the US, but lived and knitted in Scotland in the late 50's and early 60's, and when my husband and I emigrated, we travelled to New York on the Queen Mary! My husband tells me the "P and O" line is the Pacific and Orient line. The Queen Mary was the Cunard line.
So nice to have you in the crowd here!
Best wishes,
Anna

Thank you Anna for your kind welcome. Is your husband Scottish? They say there are more Scots living overseas than actually living in Scotland! The Queen Mary 2 was in Perth about three weeks ago. Looking forward to getting to know my way around this site. Since finding knitting websites I seem to spend more of my time on the computer than actually knitting! :)

Hi Caros A big welcome from me too. I live in NSW, Australia. I was so happy to find this Forum even though I haven't been on here for long, and unfortunately haven't contributed much to due illness. You will find all the people here so very friendly and helpful. Catch up with you soon.

Welcome! My daughter lives in Brisbane right now. The last 2 summers (your winter) I've gone over to visit her. We have done a lot of sightseeing around your beautiful country. I always take something to knit on the long flights.

Thank you Ginny. My sister recently moved back to Perth after living in Queensland for three years. I think the floods there helped her make the decision. It must be lovely for you to visit your daughter - I bet she looks forward to seeing you for months! :)

Hi Caros,
We emigrated from South Wales in 1967, we travelled on the Sitmar Line, Castelle Felice, I was thirteen and had a ball.
