Not that I need an excuse to knit socks....but the warm weather is conducive to sock knitting, no warm garment sitting on your legs. I participated for the first time in Sock Madness, and am currently in Tour de Sock. Means finishing socks in insanely short times. Am working on my New Beginnings project in between the socks.

I have some Hickory Socks on the needles. And I Still have my Unalakleet shawl to finish. But I am actually down to 3 UFOs and I think this summer I might get down to only 1.
Really I have been sewing this summer instead of knitting. My world is really turned upside down.

I knit almost everyday. Right now I am just starting a slinky red rayon sweater, just a simple sleeveless tank. And I just finished another - but the rayon yarn was from a different maker and it wasn't as silky, more cotton like.
This spurred me into going through by stash to find the yarn I REALLY meant to use.
I also have a baby blanket half done- I love the yarn, a bumpy sprightly yelow and white wool with a marble size orange dots every so often. I started it in the winter (!!!) and put it aside when I was packing up to move in March.
Now that I am almost settled in to the new house, I unpacked it and plan to work on it in the evenings when I am watching tv - it's a simple pattern, since the yarn's texture is what makes the piece interesting.
I do hope to do some more knitting, but except for a vague idea in my head, I have no definite plans of what I will make..

| After a long break, I joined a local knitting circle and then ran to my local yarn store. Didn't realize how much I missed knitting!!! I immediately found my next knitting project: Citron (Knitty pattern). Then rummaged through my statch and found the perfect yarn: Belisa Cashmere that I picked up at Stitches East last year. I'm half way there. Can't wait. Will post a photo when completed. |

Well I have a cotton purse going, a wool afghan and a pair of wool socks. Once sock is finished and the other is just started. The afghan is for my daughter for a Christmas gift and the purse is for me. Like to keep it exciting!

| Finished a pullover in Cotton Bam Boo a few days ago, have six rows to go on a baby sweater knit from the leftover yarn. Baby great grandson due in mid-July. Am ready to begin a pullover for myself for fall, in Wool Bam Boo. Swatching is mandatory for these and any bamboo yarns; stitches tend to get wider and a tiny bit shorter, which requires serious pattern alterations. I love the "feel" of bamboo, though. Then a Christmas stocking for the July baby. |

| The Zen Pullover, from Interweave Spring 2002, by Margery Winter. I'm trying Rowan Savannah yarn for this; have already tried K1C2 Tartalette which just wasn't drapy enough for the look I wanted. |

I'm working on small/quick projects to up my completion quota..too many looong drawn-out sweater projects lately (like StrataSphere...epic..)...traveled for the last week and started/completed Churchmouse's cowl shawl in Kidsilk Haze and Rowen Summer Tweed..simply elegant! And quick! Finished the second sleeve of Rowen Cari in Lenpur on the plane last night...pieces are soaking in Soak and I'll stitch them up tomorrow and have a light summer cardi. Yay! Next I vow to try socks..I know, I know I'm the last knitter knitting who's not a sock knitter...

Just started mittens for Afghans for Afghans. It's summer but not too warm here in San Francisco so it should be fun. We're encouraged to use bright-colored leftovers and I have plenty of those.

My big project is an Aran sweater for my size XL husband. He has lots of socks but has been agitating for a sweater. It's quite a commitment!
For travel knitting, I have a few UFO scarves and socks that just need a little more work. I may do some charity hats out of the stash as well. |

How do.
Love reading of everyone's knitting & a shout out to Purlewe & only 3 UFOs. You go, honey!
My projects include: a Color Affection project too - fancy that, CP! - that I want to start ASAP using Spirit Trail Fiberworks plus 2 scarves for gifts, 2 pairs of sock w/Spirit Trail yarns for me, a Knitting Pure & Simple v-neck sweater w/Gatsby for me, an Anne Hanson Butternut Scarf w/STF Merino lace weight, a couple of stalled 2nd socks. And of course, there are always new projects that tickle my creative curiosity that I want to start.

| I'm working on a small shawl and a cardigan I started during last years KR retreat (absentee); a quick scarf to donate and as always, a couple of pairs of socks. When I need something different, I work on mini mittens. They are for mitten garland for my 2 daughters this Christmas. I'm about a quarter done with my self imposed goal of 50. |

Furiously knitting my Astrid Scarf, adding the sleeves to my Annabel pullover and possibly starting the Deephaven Cowl by Bonnie Sennott to go with my Rockywold mitts. I should be doing lots of socks as we get into the summer. That would have been enough until someone mentioned the Pop blanket. I love that!

The squares are small enough so that even I can finish one in a sitting or two, and between the different cast on, the short rows, and the Noro, there's always something exciting going on. Here it is (not mine):

Thank you! I just looked on Ravelry and love this pattern! But since I want to make it for a baby, I'd like to use a yarn that's softer than Kureyon, is machine-washable and stands up to use. I'd appreciate suggestions for a yarn that has those features and also has bright color changes.

| I am knitting a lovely baby sweater in natural organic cotton for my first grandchild due in October. I also have some socks that i just can't get interested in right now. Also an afghan for my future son-in-law. He is 6'7" and nothing is ever long enough for him. I hope to finish it before the weather turns cool again. |

Purlgin, I agree with you - Noro and the Eco-wool are not good baby choices - even after rinsing/blocking, I think it's too scratchy for a baby. I don't know much about long-color-change yarns, so can't offer much help, other than to check out the "yarn ideas" for the project on Ravelry. Good luck and beware - those squares are addictive.

Everyone else seems to be making such interesting things. I found a large bag of P&C cotton in my stash, and I'm slowly turning it into a pile of dishcloths. My scrap bag of end-of-skein-bits is getting so large that it needs to be addressed soon. It will become "colorful" dishcloths.
I've also been working on orders for little aviator caps (thank goodness I learned to do German short rows!) including one for my son's girlfriend that will require some serious pattern tweaking.
It is absolutely too warm to work on projects any bigger than these, in my opinion.

If it's summer, someone should tell my employer, who has me buried. Non-work waking hours are spent with Darling Bebe, then getting house ready for market after her bedtime. Since guest bed is finally visible, I have been reaching into a year-deep pile of FOs in need of blocking. Makes me look productive in any case.
Alas, only a fraction of the knitting going on as I would like, but it is of the purely selfish variety. Monogamy right now with Heidi Kirmaier's very fun Windward using Spirit Trail Fiberworks Sunna, one of my all-time favorites of which an FO has never managed to stay chez Owl. Sadly, I routinely doze off mid-stitch during my nightly Fran-ten-minutes.
But by summer's end, I'll have something Sunna of my own and perhaps the keys to Owl Manor. ;)

I'm working on two things right now that are fun. The first is a sweater for my husband with the Bronco's logo. I found the logo on e-bay in knitting machine book. We had to figure out how to copy it reversed (turns out we both have copiers at work with a mirror option). Have finished the back and both sleeves and am working on the logo now. It's turning out great but is not a project I can take with me as I have multiple bobbins, skeins, and hanging yarns.
I'm also making hats (more portable) for a snowshoe walk to raise money for breast cancer called Romp to Stomp. We participated last year and had a wonderful time. Many people had on costumes (several men with pink skirts!) so I decided to put together a team from a women's organization I belong to. I promised a hat to anyone (plus spouses and kids) that would join. So, I don't know how many I'll need but will start with 10 then get a count. I'm on number 6. I'm using Plymouth Encore worsted in a dark pink and a cute pattern that has some cables and seed stitch. I'm not too sick of it yet, but if I have to make 20 that will be a different story. |
