We have decided that we can't really do this as it is too cold in June for us to be outside knitting and that is the only way we can knit in public in a small town. Maybe one day they will have a southern hemisphere version.
We are in a small country town. We have a library but it would hardly be knitting in public. We are too small to have a shopping mall. There is just the main street and a couple of supermarkets. If we want to knit in public where we will actually be seen by more than say 10 or 15 people, we need to be in the main street. It is far too cold to sit there in June. June is winter here.
Do you have a coffee shop or something like that? I live in a small rural town of about 1,200 residents ... our drugstore has a "sitting" area (wonderful couch and easy chairs in front of a non-working fireplace) and the owner has said we knitters (all four of us!) are welcome to sit there and knit anytime. Perhaps your supermarket will allow you to bring your own folding chairs and knit there ...??? It never hurts to ask.
Where I live, it is too HOT to sit outside and knit in June. I want to be inside an air-conditioned facility out of the sun and heat and mosquitoes and gnats!
