Knitter's Review
September 13, 2002

mohair a la modeDuring my yarn-spotting adventures I rarely come across a yarn shop that offers its own private-label yarn. And when I do, it's mostly at smaller shops with their own flock of sheep in the back field.

The rest of this month we'll look at the exceptions, house yarns from yarn shops big and small, across the country.

New This Week
According to the label, Halcyon Yarns' Botanica is reminiscent of a stroll through a lush and vibrant botanical garden. We take it for a test knit to see if this claim is true.

Greet the New Year in Style
I'm excited to announce that our very first Knitter's Review "Year in Yarn" calendar is only three weeks away! This compact wall calendar contains 12 beautiful, evocative images and thoughts to carry you through 2003.

Plus, there's a bonus centerfold poster that urges us all to "relax, dream, connect, create -- knit." I hope you like it! Take a sneak peek at the cover.

September Subscriber Prize
What would you do with a $50 gift certificate from Williams-Sonoma? Start dreaming, because that's our subscriber prize for this month! We'll announce the winner at the end of September.

A Bear-able Retreat
To better learn the principles of an EPS sweater during our retreat workshop, each participant will get to make a miniature sweater. And to give the sweater a deserving home, each participant also gets a commemorative retreat teddy bear!

Learn how you can have a legitimate excuse to play with stuffed animals, read about the first-annual Knitter's Review Weekend Retreat this November in Syria, Virginia.

I wish you all a safe week until we talk again.

Sincerely,

P.S.-Do you have friends who would enjoy Knitter's Review? If so, use our simple Tell a Friend form and let them know about us.
