Knitter's Review
July 26, 2012
TDF and a vintage china plate

When I announced in June that novelty yarns were back, I could hear a collective groan from many of you. "Does this mean the end of wool?" people asked. "Should I stockpile the good stuff in case it goes away?"

While the last round of novelty yarns was mostly made of shiny squeaky synthetics, this latest batch contains a high percentage of the good, natural stuff. This week I show you an example called TDF, which stands for "To Die For." It comes from the socially conscious yarn company Mango Moon. Besides having a hefty base of wool and silk fiber, it's also a perfect superbulky fashion yarn for mindless summertime knitting.

KR Retreat is Here!
I'm excited to announce the full details of this year's Knitter's Review Retreat, which takes place November 8-11 at the Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua, New York. I hope you can come. Registration will begin on Friday, August 3rd at 12 noon EDT.

In the Forums: Swapping Yarns
We're talking about yarn substitutions. Zanadana would like to be able to substitute an affordable yarn for those projects that would otherwise be priced beyond her budget. How do you do it?

As always, I thank you for your readership and your support.

Talk to you on August 8th!
