Have any of you had success using the lightweight/baby gripper snaps on knitted baby garments? I'm thinking of using some of these on a baby kimono, perhaps with a button on top if I don't like the gripper design. I'm supposing I should use a piece of reinforcing fabric underneath. Or perhaps I should use a sew-on snap ...??? I really do like snaps on baby things.

I actually have a strip of the baby snaps on twill tape (purchased by the foot or yard or something like that) left from sewing baby garments. Great on the crotch/inseam for easy diaper changes. If I just need one, I'll probably treat the cut edges of the tape with a ravel-stop liquid before sewing it on the knitted kimono I'm making. Thanx!

I'm with Consuelo. I'd go with the sew-on type, and I love her idea of the snaps on twill tape. I make (especially now) quite a few baby things, but never considered using snaps. Thanks for the idea.

Yeah, I like snaps on baby things, too. Moms like them and babies can't un-do them. I think I would go with a sew-on snap. I'd be concerned the gripper snaps may not hold but I have not first hand experience. Maybe someone else here can share theirs. If you decide to use the sew-on, you might use a single one of those snaps that come on a twill tape. The tape will take the place of a fabric backing. I love those.
