Posted - 01/25/2008 : 10:02:42 AM I'm a beginning spinner. I bought this fiber called Gotland Lamb - it is a beautiful natural gray, soft, lustrous, almost no crimp. The ONLY reason I bought it was because the seller claimed that this is the same fiber that all of the cloaks in Lord of the Rings were made of - hand spun, hand woven. It was not easy to spin (for a beginner) and I ended up with what looked like Lopi.
WHOA, did it felt. It felted WHILE I KNTTED IT. Since I intended to felt it, this was ok. I did some slippers. They were felted hard and fast in about 8 minutes of agitation in hot water. Never saw anything like it.
I got the fiber at www.paradisefibers.net

Posted - 01/28/2008 : 10:13:56 PM Thanks for the info. I'll check their company out for some natural yarns. Sometimes it is nice to try different things then you find in the shops. CharRube |
