Posted - 09/27/2007 : 5:35:30 PM I have been losing weight for quite a while now and it's messing up my knitting. It must be a common problem, sizing things when sizes are changing: kids grow, people gain or lose weight. I want to knit a lace dress and have it fit me in 2 sizes. I generally don't use patterns, which is part of the problem, since I mostly knit to fit my current body, measuring and fitting as I knit, anything other than my "right now" size is a puzzle to knit. Any advice? |

Posted - 09/27/2007 : 8:04:07 PM I'm sorta in the same boat and have frogged a WIP because of it. I would tend (and try) to knit for the smaller size for a variety of reasons. Most of what I pick to knit is supposed to be form fitting, and knitting has a lot of inherent negative ease. And even if it's supposed to be looser fitting, I don't want it so baggy it's hanging off me.

Posted - 09/27/2007 : 6:18:24 PM Knit fabric is forgiving, so any garment should fit, say, sizes 4 and 6. "Measuring and fitting as I knit" is a good strategy too. ;-) |
