Posted - 04/23/2008 : 10:58:24 AM Saw a beautiful felted purse that inspired me but can't find the great spring periwinkles, chartreuse and pinks, plus touch of other bright pretty colors of yarns. All local stores are dull. Any suggestion of online, not tooooo expensive and type of yarn, since this will be my first and if I flop I don't want too much invested Thanks |

Posted - 04/29/2008 : 10:22:01 AM thanks so much to all of you, I just figured out how to get back into the forum. The kool aid thing sounds fun, do you dye before, and in cold water, right so it felts right after? |

Posted - 04/24/2008 : 06:05:42 AM Brown Sheep's Nature Spun also comes in lots of colors and felts nicely. Kraemer's Naturally Nazareth and Mauch Chunky also felt very nicely. My favorite clogs are made of Naturally Nazareth. The only time I felted Cascade 220 it seemed like it took forever for it to felt - maybe just a "bad water" day or something.
Keep knitting, this too shall pass. |

Posted - 04/24/2008 : 05:36:49 AM Webs (www.yarn.com) is having a sale on Cascade 220. If you're lucky they'll still have a wide variety of colors. I've just discovered this yarn and love it. |

Posted - 04/23/2008 : 6:27:42 PM Cascade 220. Comes in a gazillion colors, felts easily, is widely available, and is not expensive.
Here's the Cascade website with color cards:

Patons Merino felts well too and is quite inexpensive, but I haven't found as many colors as Cascade 220.

Posted - 04/23/2008 : 11:40:32 AM I bought some lite lopi a few years ago that was a super bright fuschia, an intense purple, a nice periwinkle and a bright blue. I got it at my LYS but I'm sure you can find it online just about anywhere. Lite lopi felts really well, I made a bag of it, it felts tight and super fuzzy! I love the fuzz though. It's a nasty feeling yarn IMO and it was a bit splitty, but I used sz 11 needles and lost out 1/4 width and 1/3-1/2 height.
