Hello,
I am thinking of buying a carding board and would like to hear from anyone that has one. The one I am looking at is on the following site: http://www.runningmoonfarm.com/tools/board_doffer.html
I would love a drum carder but can't afford one right now, so I am hoping this contraption will be better than hand cards. I want to card jacob fleece and eventually alpaca fleece.

I've only seen carding boards used for garnetting, i.e. mixing up bits of fiber and yarn ends to add to wool being spun for different effects. While it is cheaper than a drum carder, some of the people in my spinning group have found used drum carders in the $100-$150 range, which isn't too much more than the cost of the carding board.
I don't think that it would be too eficient for large amounts of wool and fiber. It might process more at a time than hand cards, but would require a table set-up to use (I usually hand card in my comfy chair while watching tv).
