I went an LYS that is on major bus routes in the area.
All of the LYS in my area are placed no where a nondriver has vary little or no access. So I am trapped with either the big box stores or online.

Ooh, I second the idea of a LYS that is accessible to public transportation! As a student with no car, I had to rely on the subway and the bus to get my yarn fix.

For yarn stores that are not accessible to public transportation, I wonder if people could organize carpooling for a "knit night" or "knit afternoon". This would promote community and get the word out about a store.
