Posted - 07/09/2010 : 2:38:32 PM Hi Guys!
I am traveling to Peru and Ecuador starting August 8th.
Does anyone know anything about the yarn markets in Cusco and Quito? I would love to buy some beautiful kettle dyed yarn wherever they sell them. ALso has anyone had contact with the Yarn Cooperatives that exist there? I would love to see what they do. I read about one coop in Ankash which sells yarn through Mayu - it is apparently in the remote high sierras of Peru not far from where the movie "into the Void" took place. Dont think I will be trekking there -But if anyone knows of any other coops I would love to see them.
Thanks guys

Posted - 07/27/2010 : 07:31:30 AM To get back on this topic, the market in Cusco where my husband purchased yarn was Factoria La Vicunita. He said it was a large market with tons of yarn and hand knit products. They specialize in alpaca. |

Posted - 07/12/2010 : 11:40:50 AM I just saw your post that you're traveling to Peru. My husband went on a hike / climb two summers ago and brought back some beautiful coned baby alpaca yarn for me. He also purchased some gorgeous handmade sweaters. I will ask him about the yarns and markets. |
