Posted - 03/12/2011 : 7:09:12 PM Hi ladies - I've been away from these forums and knitting for a few years but now I'm back! Ready to knit a sweater for my 3.5 year old DD. Haven't picked the pattern yet but something for 3 seasons will be what I'm shooting for. I have the yarn - a merino/angora blend. Here's my challenge - I have 2 skeins each of white, pink and purple. I'm looking for a recommendation on the best way to use these. I'm most used to using color as an accent, but can't do that as won't have enough of any one color to use as the main. Would love your suggestions. I'm a big fan of slip stitch. Don't think I can handle fair isle at this early point in my knitting return. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. |

Posted - 03/13/2011 : 11:29:24 AM Thanks for ideas so far. I will check photos for color inspiration. Yarn is 5 stitches per inch. I actually pulled out my Opinionated Knitter so was thinking of trying Surprise or Totum. |

Posted - 03/13/2011 : 10:10:55 AM You are getting some marvelous suggestions here!
This one calls for fingering weight yarn, and is for babies, but maybe with heavier yarn and larger needles it could work:

This is cap-sleeved, but very cute (with thanks to Solaris):

And this designer is one of my favorites (again, fingering weight but probably could be up-sized):

You will have such fun!

Posted - 03/13/2011 : 05:00:40 AM That is so strange! A version of the surprice jacket is exactly what I was going to suggest. Check out the last page of my flicker account. The blue and red sweater was originally made in three colors and would work well with pretty matching buttons.

Posted - 03/13/2011 : 04:42:47 AM Maybe a toddler size Elizabeth Zimmerman Baby Surprise Jacket http://www.helloyarn.com/wp/?p=540 or the Drops sweater shown here http://www.helloyarn.com/wp/?cat=35 or the Tulip Sweater --it does come in larger sizes http://www.coldwateryarn.com/tulip_baby_sweater_cardigan.htm
