We recently purchased a flat screen TV because our older one went kaput. But, it seems to me that the people seem stretched out side-ways. They seem to be a little distorted and wider.

Does anyone else perceive this? Maybe I just have my knitting chair in the wrong spot.

I'll check that out, thanks!

Flat screens allow different picture sizes and ratios, from full screen to others smaller than that. Your remote for the TV should have a Size function that lets you choose what's most pleasing to you.
Also, you may have to change the size depending on what you're watching. DIfferent broadcasts or stations sometimes need different sizes or picture ratios to look right.
Your owner's manual should have information on this.
Hope I helped.
