I found these beautiful blankets on Pinterest, but I am not sure what type of yarn to use and what size of needles. Any ideas? I am allergic to even small amounts of wool, so the yarn has to be wool free.

The problem with using a cotton yarn is that a blanket that large would end up being extremely heavy. I was thinking of something along the lines of Berroco Comfort or another blend.

To my eye, I agree with the very chunky ....kind of like Lion brand Thick and Quick and a very big needle.

My best guess would be very chunky yarn on US #35 needles or even #50 to get a very loose stitch. Maybe a cotton? Cotton knit loose would stretch/relax.
