Posted - 01/08/2012 : 09:43:40 AM For US folks, the first episode airs tonight at 9pm.
Will Matthew and Mary/ Bates and Anna get together? Who will fight the war? So many things to look forward to, I am planning on a garter stitch or stockinette stitch project tonight.
UK folks -- warn us if you're posting spoilers ;)

Posted - 07/30/2012 : 1:53:37 PM Mr. Luann is also a big fan, Slaccyc. I watched the first episode without him and he was not happy - I didn't mind watching it a second time so he could catch up, though!

Posted - 07/23/2012 : 6:43:10 PM For UK folks, Season 3 will be shown on ITV starting September 2012.
For US folks, Season 3 will be airing on PBS in January 2013: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/classic/downtonabbey3.html
Downton Abbey's executive producer, Rebecca Eaton, stated in an interview that during series three a couple will get married, a baby will be born, a well-known character will die, and that there are good scenes between Shirley MacLaine and Maggie Smith.
Let the countdown begin!

Posted - 07/16/2012 : 11:01:30 AM Life having been, ummmmmm, rather complex of late, anything approximating real TV watching has evaporated, so when I had to do a 72-hour trip from the East Coast to Phoenix this week, I happily downloaded Season Two. I have never enjoyed air travel so much.
Now the question is, when will I get the 2.25 hours I need to myself to see the last bits of it????

Posted - 07/12/2012 : 08:55:44 AM I'm a Bates also, which is a little weird because I definitely don't have a secret past. I'll admit that I'm quite drawn to his story and his character, though, as in I'm always worried that he'll be all right. Weird to get so caught up in a TV show, isn't it?

Posted - 07/12/2012 : 08:48:07 AM I finally watched the first seven episodes streamed on Netflix, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lived up to the hype IMHO. Now I have to figure out how to get Season 2. It's not available via Netflix streaming (yet).

Posted - 04/03/2012 : 08:06:14 AM I have been avoiding this thread until now because I hadn't yet watched all of Season Two, but here I find you are very honorable and have not given any spoilers. I took the quiz and I am Robert, Earl of Grantham. I suppose I did identify with his character a lot (except for a certain subplot in Season Two which brought out the Dowager Countess in me...)
The Christmas Special may be my favorite episode so far - but now I am wondering what they have planned for Season Three!

Posted - 04/02/2012 : 12:36:00 PM I have handled the withdrawal from Downton Abbey by watching The Forsyte Saga and Upstairs Downstairs. I liked the former well enough, but Upstairs Downstairs is more like D.A., having preceeded it by 40+ years. Season One is a bit boggy, but if you hang on, Season Two and beyond are much better.

Posted - 01/24/2012 : 4:12:46 PM I knew it was only a matter of time until a parody version surfaced - and what a treat it is! Made for Britain's "Red Nose" day (their version of Comic Relief), it boasts excellent scenic and costume effects, and a priceless cast that includes Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley (Edina and Patsy of Ab Fab)-and just for us, a knitted character (and O'Brien's hair). http://youtu.be/r5dMlXentLw
There's also a second episode covering the fictional "making of" Uptown Downstairs Abbey. http://youtu.be/p3YYo_5rxFE
