I’ve had an offer to interview for a job in Dayton, Ohio. If I were single, I’d probably jump at it, but I have a partner. I know Ohio is one of those states that doesn’t have same-sex marriage or civil unions, but how is the area in reality?
One consideration I have is that I’d need to be able to have my partner on my benefits.

Actually, Ohio is pretty conservative, politically. Especially with our current governor. (Let's just say that I'd rather chose anyone off the street rather than him.) If you take the Dayton job, you may want to consider living in Yellow Springs, a small town just east of the city. It's amazingly laid back and accepting of every lifestyle. Several of my coworkers live there with their partners. Not sure of domestic partner benefits, it would depend on the company or employer.
BTW if you do decide to live here and make it by early September, you HAVE to get out to Young's Jersey Dairy Farm for The Woolgathering. Ice cream, fiber, ice cream, yarn, ice cream, fiber tools... It's a little slice of heaven.

Rachel is right; if this is a private employer, the benefits piece would be part of their corporate rules. Do you know if this employer has offices or employees in states that have same sex marriage or civil unions?
I remember seeing a website that showed statistics by state and urban area for people looking to move. It included info that might be interesting to you, I will look for it.

The same sex partner benefits I believe go by the employer's rules, however Ohio is a very gay friendly state. We have a large gay population here, and I think you'd like it.
