I'm putting this here, because after all, you are ALL family.
Just wanted to say I am thinking about those of you in the path of this storm. It was posted today as Cat 2 when it makes landfall. Still, we'll hope it's gentle.

I'm there and I'm knitting. I live away from the coast and the storm hasn't reached us yet. We're getting some wind gusts and some light rain. The eye is going to pass just to the west of where I am and late this afternoon and tonight is when we will be in it's midst. Thankfully, we've got generators and will have lights when the power goes off and that means I can still knit. My sister-in-law is here and she's doing needlepoint. The cat is stretched out in my bed. We've got dinner and supper already cooked (in the South we don't do lunch - it's dinner at noon and supper at night). All in all, not too bad of a day so far. For us that is. Other people haven't been so blessed. In Plaquemines Parish a levee had been overtopped and the village of Braithwaite is flooded with abt. 15 feet of water. The residents are being rescued now and every house is flooded. Keep them in your prayers. |

Watching it on the news and thinking of knitting people there. Actually I am quite horrified by it because New Orleans went through that whole thing only a few years back. Can't help thinking "Oh those poor people to be facing it again even if it is not supposedly so bad"
