Posted - 09/02/2012 : 2:39:34 PM I have a 5 mo. old great-grand son and I knitting hats for him for winter. I have made many from Baby Beanies by Amanda Keeys. But I am stumped on the Classic Cap on 129. As I have been knitting forever - I'm 74 and learned when I was 5, so I think that qualifies as forever - what I'm getting patternwise looks nothing like the pictures in the book. Does anyone know if there is an errata for this book/pattern. I am not ripping it out, but will try it with a plain yarn when I finish this hat.

Posted - 09/11/2012 : 8:19:27 PM I have that book, too, and have made several of the hats. I have lots of writing in the margins to fix the patterns. For example, the close up of the little earflap hat with the hearts makes it easy to count the garter stitch rows.....and it doesn't match the directions AT ALL. I tend to change most patterns anyway (my earflap hat has a monkey, not hearts), so it's not a huge issue for me, but the directions really should match the pictures, since that's what we paid for.

Posted - 09/02/2012 : 5:23:36 PM the errata for that pattern book is at http://blog.amandakeeysphotography.com/?page_id=685
(there is a LOT of errata!!)
here is what it shows for that pattern:
quote: Classic Cap: Row 3: Slip 1 stitch purlwise (s1pw), knit 1, repeat until end. brocade pattern rows: Row 1: Purl 1, Knit 7. Repeat til end of round. Row 2: Knit 1, Purl 1, Knit 5, Purl 1. Repeat til end of round. Row 3: Knit 2, Purl 1. { Knit 3, Purl 1 } repeat til end of round. Row 4: Knit 3, Purl 1, Knit 1, Purl 1. { Knit 5, Purl 1, Knit , Purl 1 } repeat til end of round. Row 5: Knit 4, Purl 1. { Knit 7, Purl 1 } repeat til end of round. Row 6: Repeat row 4. Row 7: Repeat row 3. Row 8: Repeat row 2. Repeat rows 1 through 4 once more. Knit 2 rows, then continue to decreasing sequence.
Does that help?
