I'm assembling colors for a super colorful stranded project. The yarns I've selected so far are from the same base, different dyers, in single ply fingering. I'd like to add a couple more colors but can only locate variegated singles and need more solid colorways. Anybody have a favorite to recommend? I'll stitch good thoughts about you into the project!

Thanks, Dschmidt. i'll check out Webs' Valley yarns. I'll have collected every color in the rainbow by the time this project is over! It is an ambitious project but really fun and engaging to keep each next motif.

I love a good colorwork project.. and while I don't have any single ply yarn suggestions, I do love your ambition and your project. Go, Mshark, GO!

Mshark, what a great pattern. I like the color combinations and the Fair Isle motif choices. And of course the little sheepies. It definitely looks like fun. I like doing Fair Isle, but I'm slow at it yet, and haven't done anything as ambitious as that scarf. Have fun!

Hi Robinstephanie --

If you like colorful stranded projects, you will love this one! It's not exactly a pattern, more of an outline, so its really fun. Its called My Favorite Things, by Jill McGee. Its an infinity scarf knit as a tube and then the ends are grafted together. Here is the link to the pattern on Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/my-favourite-things-infinity-scarf. Check it out!

I am always telling people about this. http://www.bendigowoollenmills.com.au/products.php
You can fill in your details and they will put you on the mailing list to receive colour cards with samples each year. You get to see the actual colour of the product without having to rely on printers ink or computer screens. It makes choosing for something special very easy.
The prices are also extremely good.

Hi Grandmoogi -- What a good reminder how terminology varies from place to place. What I'm using is yarn that has been created with just one strand, not plied with other strands. Here in the US it can be found in various weights. The weight I'm using is called fingering or sock here, I think it would be 4 ply in Australia (if the website I consulted is accurate!). Whew. That's technical!

Single ply fingering would not be what we in Australia would call 1 ply would it? It would be one strand of wool and it would be equivalent to what you might call lace weight or thereabouts?
For example, what you call double knit, we call eight ply but it is actually about three strands of wool/yarn twisted together.
