Howday! I knit socks 2/2, toe up. My twin sister can't knit. She's always had trouble with this. She can crochet. I know that looms do give you the capability to use both hands and they aren't as "hand position" restrictive and tension is easier to do for beginners.
Has anyone used sock looms that can accomodate all yarn weights?
What would be a good brand?
What is your opinion of sock looms in general?

Joan, how about your sister doing socks in crochet? I know that there are patterns out there, using sock weight yarn and a smaller hook, because I have a friend in TX who makes lovely crocheted socks. Probably there would be some patterns on Ravelry.

Howdy! After researching, I prefer knitting the socks 2/2, the way I've always done. I think the round loom might be fun for a few hats, etc., but I'm so addicted to socks that it would be hard for me to change.
In my loom journey though, I came across the Red Heart site and they do have some nice sock yarns too at affordable prices. Some sock yarns were on sale for $2.78. Their regular sock yarns had some neat self-patterned yarns for under $5.00/50 gm.

Anyway, just sharing. My twin sister could do some thicker socks on a round loom and make some slippers....maybe.
