I too keep a journal. It's not a store bought journal but I've had my eye on the one that accompanies the book "The Knitting Stitch Bible" offered by crafters choice if they ever let me become a member. I think that they do not want my "Homemaker" money and money order method of payment as they are very selective.

I just keep a small spiral bound note pad. I enter the date I start, the number of stitches I've casted on, type of cast on, who the project is for, the yarn, color, # on skeins used, mistakes I made along the way and other such things. The date of completion and my opinion of my handy work. I take poloroids of my projects but do not keep them in the journal as the note pad is about as big as a poloroid photo. I have yet to work from a pattern so my notes are my way of writing out my own original patterns.

However, reading the responses here has given me ideas on how to upgrade my journaling.

Thank you Lovelies,
Sheila

Sheila, what do you mean by "if they ever" let you be a member?

They would have absolutely no idea what you do for a living. All I did was go to the web site, sign up, and a couple weeks later I had my books.

As for money order, that I can see being a problem. There is a huge problem with counterfeit US money orders, and it's easier to cut a cheque or use CC. Call or email them to ask if they accept MO; nothing on my invoice specifically forbids it.

Hi Monika,

The thing is that I do not possess a CC. Don't use checks, I only deal with cash or money orders (Postal,WesternUnion or Walmart MO's)

I get the direct mail offers and have tried to get a membership at least three times. Each time I get this form that asks all sorts of personal questions like; am I employed, whats my yearly income, do I have a bank account, etc
I'd fill that out send it off (loosing 0.37) and never hear from them again.

I am a member of DoubleDay book club and have managed to score a couple of good crafting books from there but not like I would from Crafters Choice. Anyway I figure their loss some other company will get my money.

I just tried them again, using another snail mail offer last week and am waiting to see what happens this time.

Hi Sheila,

Wow! You're the only person I know who is strictly cash/MO only. That will definitely limit your options, sorry to say. Funny thing is Crafters Choice is a division of Doubleday.

Sheila,

You do NOT have to fill out this personal information. They want the info so that they can add you to the mailing lists they sell to other companies. Without the demographics, your name is much less valuable.

Good luck!

Melanie, I also think it is a credit check.

I just found a new one

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1584793570/cm_sp_item/002-2475667-0544819?v=glance

it's not due out until March 1, but it looked pretty nifty to me, so I pre-ordered it. NAYY... Thought someone else might like it, too!

I just use my emails to ML as my journal.

That and my photo albums.

Hmmm...money is money, whether its in the form of a money order or a credit card. Sheila, I don't use credit cards either, and am strictly a cash/money order girl myself. (So now you 've met two of us, mokey!)
As for a knitting journal, I haven't started one, but the idea sounds good.
