Hi! It took so much effort to take the photos and find a free place to host these images that I thought I'd post here as well as the other thread where I said I'd post the pictures. :) Not sure I opted for a Jesus pose but you get the idea of the garment...

I knit this ruana for charity and just finished it. It was a great project to use up partial skeins and scraps. Not sure who to give it to now. Here is the story behind it: http://www.knittersreview.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10773

Elizabeth,
I wrote my piece in your other posting, but after looking at my scrap balls I think I could make it with a few new balls of yarn added in. I shall have to give it more thought when I come back from the US as I like to wear things like that better than big coats or even over coats as well.
I love the way you have done your one!

Thanks very much, Susan! I have to say that I like wearing it!

I am already plotting the next one--out of my own stash so that I can keep it! It is wonderful, mindless knitting--perfect for in front of the telly and good for cool nights, since as it grows you can drape it over you while you knit.

One thing I am thinking of changing is the bind off for the front. Folk Shawls says to do EZ's cast-on cast-off, which I did, but I think a more decorative cast-off/bind-off would be nicer--maybe an i-cord bind off?

Oh Elizabeth - that is just too gorgeous. The way the colours blend across the ruana give it a wonderful effect. Well done.

I love making scarves like that.

I may have to get this book!! I did borrow it from the library a while back and I liked several of the patterns, including the ruana. And the ruana is very fitting for where we live, huh?

I just checked on the library website and the book is on the shelves of our closest branch... I think I will go grab it in the morning!! LOL

I did go get the book from the Library today. I looked through it and marked all the patterns I wanted to use, and decided I need to get the book for myself!! I looked on a couple of sites and found it for $12.99 from Overstock.com. Their site seems to be working better now. So, I have one to look at while I am waiting....LOL I need to make some more things so I have enough scraps to make a ruana.

That is truly beautiful, Elizabeth. And if you want ppl to be able to look at multiple pictures more easily, try yahoo. They let you do albums that can be viewed by anyone.

Thanks, all! Barb--make sure you go to the Interweave Press web site and look at their errata for this book before you start. I love this book, but my edition had many mistakes. Luckily, Interweave posted corrections, and they are easy to print out. I hope that newer editions of the book have been revised/corrected.

WOW!
That is absolutley gorgeous. I don't have enough small skeins to do it, but its giving me a reason to save up all my pieces instead of using them on other projects.

Whoa; absolutely gorgeous. I've been waiting for "Handpainted Country", for something in there that is very similiar to your ruana. I think you've just changed my mind! Very, very nice.
