I'm having trouble with my afterthought heels. Whenever I trying to pick up the stitches there are holes on either side of the heel. Even if I try picking up extras to get those, it just makes the holes appear right below where I picked the stitches up. Ugg. Any thoughts?

Pick up extras, yes, how about also twisting or knitting into the back of the loop? If all else fails, use the end of the yarn that you have to weave in anyway to darn the hole. Are the holes still there after you block? Wash the socks a couple of times?
