Here's a great site that will print custom knitted sock directions according to the yarn guage & measurements you input. You can choose either hand knitting (in the round) or machine knitting (knitted flat w/kitchener stitch to close) directions.

It's great and takes all the guess work out of making your socks. Plus, it's a free site!

Wow! what a cool site. the pattern was for a knee sock. when i tried to put in information for only a calf length sock the software didn't calculate right. But my goodness. what an interesting thing.
