I have some Patons Melody yarn to knit up into a baby/toddler sweater, but I can't find a pattern that uses yarn this thick! It calls for 10mm needes and guage is listed at 9sts/14rows to 4" which is about what I am getting.

Are there any free patterns out there? I was goign to try and make the bulky toddler sweater from Knitter's Stash but the yarn they use is much thicker so it wouldn't have come out right. I'd love a hooded sweater, it can be either for a baby (gift) or a toddler (daughter) size.

Thanks (hristinac. The first one is too bulky of yarn, if you can beleive it! I'm looking for a sweater rather than a poncho, but thanks for that second link.

I found a free asymmetrical cardigan pattern that looks neat, and it even has the pattern written so you can enter your own guage of yarn to make it work.....I might do this one:

There are wonderful patterns in The Yarn Girls' Guide to Kids' Knits for super-bulky yarn. The sweaters knit up easily in just a few days.

I have read through one book by "The Yarn Girls" and loved it, so I'm sure Rachel's suggestion is a good one. Otherwise, you might try to make your own pattern. I surprised myself by designing a sweater for a teddy bear when I gave up trying to find one that used the size needles I wanted to use and made the right size for my bear. Good luck, and don't forget to let us know how it goes!

You can get great patterns in Lopi leaflets, and the bonus is no seams.
