...as of last night. She couldn't feel her left leg, and the doctors did an emergency MRI. She has bleeding in the brain, and that's really scary, because she has a rare blood condition where her body destroys her platelets, so if she cuts herself (or bleeds internally), the doctors can't do much but give her platelets and hope she heals herself. They said the bleeding is small, and they're giving her platelets today. But boy was I knitting up a storm last night. I was before my Dad called, so after crying a bit on my husband's shoulder, I picked the needles back up to try and get my mind off it a bit, and it sure does help. This really shell-shocked me because I only got married a few months ago, and next month I'm going to start trying to get pregnant. This makes me really scared my Mom's not going to be around to see her grandchildren, and she's wanted grandkids since I was about 20 (I'm 30 now). Please keep me in your thoughts, and knit a row for my Mom's health.

shaggy Every day a peddler pulled his cart of wool from his home to the village market. It was a long trip. He had to travel around the perimeter of a large lake that was owned by the town tycoon, a modernday scrooge. One day during the winter the lake froze over. The peddler realized that he could cut off 2 miles from his trip if he crossed over the lake. He was spotted halfway across the lake by the tycoon. Scrooge came racing out of his mansion and screamed at the peddler, "I’ll be danged if I let anyone pull the wool over my ice!" |

You have my hopes and best wishes for your mom's speedy healing.

Thank you so much, everyone. She is stable as of right now, but they're still trying to stop the bleeding. She was air-lifted this morning to the UW Madison hospital, which she's been at before and has received excellent care. You have no idea how much your well wishes mean to me...

Lori, OF COURSE! we are holding you all dear during this crisis!
This groups was enormously helpful to me when I needed support last winter. One good piece of (knitting) advice I received at the time was to bring two projects with you--one more difficult than the other. To my amazement, I could not even start and get a simple baby hat in the round going when I was waiting for my husband's surgery to be complete. However, once I got to the sitting-in-the-room-for-days stage, I could easily do a little sweater.
HANG IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
