I seem to have gotten on a roll. First I made a shawl for me, now I'm working on socks.
Unlike many of you, it's not due to any altruism on my part. I wanted to wait until I was good enough to make things I would wear. And, I tend to be hot all the time, so most knit items aren't of any use to me. But socks, yummy.

Good for you! The only problem is, once you get a load of how nice handmade socks feel, you may become intolerant of wearing any other kind and suddenly have to knit nothing but socks for a while until you have enough to last between one laundry day and the next!
Not that I would know anything about this problem, of course, says Lin whose sock drawer won't close anymore...guess it's time to throw out some of those old store-bought things!

Me again... I have a tendency to give away most all things that I make...except the socks...so I know what u mean about making them for yourself!! I have 'shoe' socks and 'house' socks...but mostly socks for my treasured birkis!! I only wear birkis bc of my disability and they look good with socks...especially with hand made socks!! So..u, too will have socks for all occassions!!

Good for you, Barbara. What yarn & what pattern are you making? Are these your 1st socks?? I got into socks about a year ago & just love the ones I've made for me. Now I have to put my DSIL & my DH in the rotation. I'm on the 2nd sock for my DH, have a pair to make for my DSIL & then my turn again!! YEAH!
Have fun!!

Hi, Janice. I'm using Interlacements Little Toes, which they've discontinued. They only have the sprotweight now. It's lovely and soft and gorgeous colours. I have pics up on my blog. I'm making the pattern up as I go.

Very cool! I like the colors. You are very brave doing 2 at once for your 1st socks! I'm on sock #10 (sock #2 of my 5th pair) & am still doing them 1 at a time on dpn's. And with a pattern, not freehand!! WoW! Very impressive. Just an everyday occurance in the life of Miss Barbara, being impressive & cool & amazing!!

| I love handknit socks. They fit perfectly and they're a quick project. I can try out fun colors and patterns without committing to weeks and months of the same thing. Heavenly! |
