Help! I am working on a bag pattern and while formering the base of the bag which is done in garter stitch, the directions say to pick up 20 stitches in the ridges on the edge. I know how to pick up stitches along a stockinette stitch edge, but where do I pick up the stitches along a garter stitch edge for a clean seam? One of these days I hope to be able to answer a question in the forum instead of always asking a question....

Jan, its telling you to pick up the bumps Iprefer to knit up in the vallies, that is be tween the bumps ( ridge ridges) it gives a neater seam. Happy knitting. Maggie.
