I bought this book because I loved how they provided sweater modules -- you choose a body type, a collar type, a sleeve type -- in a sort of mix-and-match. All the patterns are written for DK weight yarn -- that was OK too, since I like DK. And I bought it even though the patterns were offered in only 3 sizes and the large (!) is 39" around the bust [:00].
I am working on upsizing one of the patterns, and am a bit surprised at the amount of yarn they say is necessary -- it seems high to me. Does anyone else use this book? What has your experience been with the yarn amounts suggested?

I have this book. I don't remember if I used as much yarn as was called for. I think the patterns are ok. I don't like how the sleeve cap doesn't really sit into the armhole. I get little corners, which I try to round off when seaming, but that gives me a small noticeable(to me) lump.

I`ve got this book, though I`m no way a 39" bust! There are some "oversized" patterns included though and they are helpful in working out size increases.

As to the yarn yardages, I think that`s a necesary evil of the rounding up process. If a body takes 6 1/2 balls, they say seven, if the collar takes 1/2, they say one, if the sleeves take 3 1/2, they say four, But if you counted total yardage needed it wouldn`t be 12 balls it might be 10 or 11.

If you`re increasing the sizes I`d stick to the yarn amount quoted, unless it was something unusual or discounted. Or refer to a similar pattern in the right size.

Nice book though. I just wish it sized a bit bigger. Is a 39" bust really that "Large"?

I just purchased this book and am excited to get started. Although, I am a little dissapointed by the neckline limitations.. Am I reading it incorrectly, or can you only match up necklines and bodies that have the same "icon" such as crew, v, etc? Has anyone tried swapping these, like putting a V neck on a body with a crew neckline pattern? I think that would make this book much more helpful... Any suggestions?
