I was an early malabrigo addict, but don't want to pay retail prices for their worsted, so I recently bought some of the bulky merino for the first time, and am very impressed with it. I swatched and tried to pill, and it really held up pretty well for a merino. And the best thing - one $7 skein makes a pair of mittens! Great colors, as usual (a bit more muted and less variegated than the worsted weight, which is a good thing, IMHO), and so very, very, wonderfully soft.
I love this stuff!

| Im obsessed with the bulky 6ply as well, and find it softer than the worsted merino |

| Hm, I think what kmstew2 calls horribly irregular dyeing is what I LIKE about this yarn. The almost solid color yarns have variances of colors that knit up with subtle variegation. Though I admit, I've bought this yarn in person, not online, so I picked up skeins that matched fairly well for my projects. The variegated skein I bought had great colors with little bleed over between the multiple colors in the skein. Turned into gorgeous fingerless mittens. |
