Hi. Can someone tell me where to find a ball winder which is not too expensive (I'm a student, and my finances are tight, but would like to spend more time knitting instead of balling skeins by hand alone)? I live in Europe, so shipping is an important issue. (Unfortunately, the LYS don't carry any ball winders, to tell the truth they don't have much yarn either :( )
Thanks in advance.

The least expensive ones run from $35 -$40 US. You might try Ebay to see if there are any selling for less than that. Good luck!

The small plastic ones are all pretty much the same - there are only a couple of manufacturers making them. One is Royal. The Fricke/Strauch Jumbo Ball Winder is fantastic and made of wood, but costs $80, so I'm guessing that you can't afford that.
