I knit this up in Knitpicks' decadence (100% chunky alpaca) and I think it turned out great after being blocked. Before blocking it was about 60" long, but after blocking it became about 70" and the pattern looked even better. I have right side and wrong side photos here. This is for my grandpa for Christmas.

Ooohh - thanks for posting this, the scarf is beautiful! I've been thinking about making this scarf in the same yarn for my future father-in-law.

Felicia in NYC

"This is mohair." "Mohair", he said and placed the furry ball on his head. "Mohair for me?" - from a very funny moment with my boyfriend in a LYS.

I love your scarf! Gorgeous! I had also been wanting to make this for my father and was wondering a good knitpicks yarn to use. I think I"ll have to try decadence, yours looks great! Do you remember how many skeins you used? Thanks for sharing!

Yes. I used about 1.5 skeins of decadence--and remember I mentioned that the scarf grew a lot after blocking. I purchased 4 skeins to make 2 scarves. I think a perfect solution would be to make two scarves out of 3 skeins.

By the way, I cast on 25 stitches instead of the 21 they asked for in the LMKG pattern, because with 21 the scarf seemed too narrow.

Edit: If you want to make this scarf, just follow a pattern for 'broken rib' or go to the purlsoho website to look up the pattern. It is TOTALLY wrong in the book.

I forgot about your post, Tejer, and cast on 21. After I got about 4 inches, I thought it looked too skinny and remembered your post. I'm using the decadence you suggested on size 10 1/2. I wonder if that size needle is too big or if it will change after blocking?

Well, I would suggest light blocking instead of soaking it in water like I did. Maybe just use a spray bottle. But anyway, I used size 11 needles like the original pattern called for. I knit pretty tight, but I thought they were fine.
