My five scarves for Christmas gifts are ready for giving. Pictured in order are Heart, Dayflower, Branching Out, Liesel, and Tiger Eye. All of the patterns are available free online at different websites. Each was made with one skein of Elann's Cashmere Silk. They are of varying length, i.e. wider ones are not as long.
My favorite (and the one I am keeping for myself) is Liesel. It is somewhat three-dimensional, meaning the leaves are a little puffy. My favorite to make was Branching Out. It was relatively easy to make, just purling on every other row and you get a lot of lace for your trouble.
In my photo album is a closeup of each one. Thanks for looking.

| Lovely! My favorite is Liesel, too. I've seen the stitch pattern in one of the Barbara Walker treasuries. I like the Tiger Eye quite a lot as well, although I think it looks like owls rather than tigers. |

Let me add to the praise - the scarves are fantastic. I would have a hard time choosing one over another. Thanks for sharing and the inspiration to keep on learning to knit lace.

Those are lovely! I also like Liesel the best, but the close-up of the Tiger's Eye scarf also looks gorgeous.

Very pretty! You said you made each one out of one skein - how long are they? I mean, averagely. Or how long is the shortest, or the longest, or...oh, good grief. I hope you know what I mean?

The widest scarf, Tiger Eye, is about 48" long. The narrowest scarf, Dayflower, is about 72".
Thanks for all the positive comments,

Becky - these scarves are gorgeous :) It is really wonderful to be able to compare the scarves knitted in the same yarn -- I never know how something is going to turn out if I substitute the yarn mentioned in the pattern but your pictures really inspired me. I like Dayflower the best (I'm a sucker for narrow scarves...)

The scarves are really beautiful. How can you bear to give them away??
What size needles did you use for Branching Out? Is that pattern from Knitty?

Hi Backyh -- Great job -- all are very beautiful scarves -- you will have some happy family/friends! As Minh said, it is really helpful to see them all side-by-side -- and knit from the same yarn. I've been planning to start some of these and you have helped me decide which one to do first (Dayflower!). I'd never warmed up to Tiger Eye, but your close up photo has changed my mind. It is now on "the list" too. And thanks too for the length info (was going to ask about that). claire |

All were knit on size 8 needles. Yes, Branching Out and Heart are from Knitty.

Beautiful! I just finished Branching Out, my first attempt at Lace, and let me tell you, you impress me! I couldn't have any distractions whatsoever while I was knitting that thing. I love it and want to try more, but don't know if I've got the patience!
Really loved the pics.
