They have Wooly Nylon Thread and Wooly Nylon Serger Thread. The plain Wooly Nylon comes in 22 colors. The serger type comes in only two colors. I am assuming the plain Wooly Nylon that comes in lots of colors is the one I want.
Thanks for the link, Barbara. I was going to use Paternayan needlepoint yarn as reinforcement, but I don't know if it would shrink or not when I wash the socks made of superwash wool. So, I took a chance and ordered some of the plain wooly nylon thread to use as reinforcement. I think that'll be fine. I don't know what the difference is.
A year or so back I got a bunch of reinforcement thread on little cards from some company I heard about on the sock forum. I got all different colors and as I remember it was less than a dollar a card-maybe even 50 cents. When I have a chance I will go through my receipts and see if I can figure out which yarn company I got it from. Anyone remember?
We have reinforcing yarn from Germany but it's not on our site - pm me if you need details. It's about $3.00 per card and is enough to do the heels and toes of one pair of socks. Its the same fiber recipe as sock yarn 75% wool/25% poly. Basic colors
I ordered three spools of wooly nylon from Hancock Fabrics (link provided by Barbara), and the order came quickly. I think it's perfect for reinforcement, but I need good light while I use it. I tried working a heel flap with the black wooly nylon in low light, and had to do it over because I missed the thread several times with my needle.
