I found a package on the front porch today from Webs - a rather large package that could perhaps fit a spinning wheel, which I incidentally told dh I would like for Christmas .
Sooo, jumping ahead of myself here, I want to be prepared to have a fun spinning time on Christmas morning! Problem is, I have only spun for a few minutes (poorly at that) so I don't know how to start. Any suggestions? Any good DVD's to explain? Also, I have no fiber to spin (is it really called fiber anyway?), so I was wondering what a good one would be to start and where could I order it. There are no local places that sell it that I know of yet.
Thanks for the help!

Yup, it's fiber. Patsy Zawitosky (just say Patsy Z - they'll know who you're talking about) has a great VHS tape called Spinning: Basics and Beyond. As far as fiber: Go play on Ebay and buy up a pound of Romney or Wensleydale roving, and use that to learn to spin. Then go back and buy an ounce or two each of a bunch of different fibers, including several breeds of sheep. Then have fun! Prepare to spin very uneven yarn at first, but you'll improve with time. Have fun!
