| You made a smart decision, Vi.....you got the wheel at a good price. (At least that's the excuse I'm using. Every place else wanted more than we paid so that's good, right? And who knows how much more they might be in a couple more months....) |

kromski wheels......
now I understand that the mazurka actually is a most excellant wheel after the initial drowning in oil period.......
I wonder if they take lay-a-ways?

ok, I got the email...
they shipped it
I got 10% off cause they were out of stock on the dt, and only had a floor model did I want it???????
( do cats want the top shelf of the cat tree??? HELL YEAH)
so....... yup they shipped
now I think it takes something like two days.
so by thursday I should have it here.......

Have to tell you, Vi...the Mazurka is sooooooo pretty and delicate! Mine is fairly elderly and it has the most amazing patina. And the little wooden pegs that hold it together are fascinating. Who needs woodscrews?

that is a LOT of wear and tear on the broom you know.....
ok this is how carole taught me
she put crap yarn on the bobbin.... and gave me the ball and had me just get used to treddling
and feeding the crap yarn into the orifice
( it was orange acyric.....
then she gave me some corriedale
and in about 20 minutes I had laceweight singles
( remember I drop spindle.......so I can draft)
just treddle first
take it easy
and make a nice bunch of designer 'intestines'
that's what my very first yarn looked like
you can always felt it later

Congrats! I'm taking a spinning class on January 14th - so I would imagine a wheel will be in my near future too...

kelly try and spin on a lendrum.....
and if you try a kromski remember they need a ton of oil
I was not impressed on the kromski's I spun on....but they were new and not oiled
the folks here clued me in.....so maybe down the road I will get a mazurka
I really think that is a very pretty wheel....

the only time I've spun was on a lendrum and I enjoyed it - we get to use wheels at the class so we'll see what those are.
I'm excited!
And good for you for ordering the wheel! how fun!
you should blog a picture when it arrives!
