I just got a message from my husband that it will be delivered today (unless they screw it up like they did Vi's!). He also included this in his email:
OH LORDY LORDY THE ANGELS SMILE, THE WORLD IS WITHOUT SIN BUT SHEEP AND LLAMAS AND DOGS BEWARE, CAUSE SHERRI IS READY TO SPIN!!!
I was sure lucky the second time around :)

Nope I think it's a girl. Most wheels I've seen are girls.

| Well, I'm at work - a whole hour away from home. Sooo, I'll sit here and wait not knowing if it's there or not. At least I'm glad that Vi's having fun with hers :) |

Well, it/she?/he? was waiting on our doorstep when we got home :) My husband had told me I couldn't open it til Christmas morn but I think he was as excited to get it out of the box as I was. It's sitting under the tree and I think we got all the parts on right. The threading hook wasn't in the box.
We stopped at Border's and I got the Alden Amos Big Book of Handspinning (was the only book o spinning I found, but the shelves were in a mess and my husband was in a hurry to get home) so I'll read tonight and see if I can figure out what the heck I'm supposed to do with this pretty little thing. My wool is under the tree keeping the wheel company. Wish us luck! |

listen when I was taught..... carole and linda told me pedal slowly in fact pedal a while without any roving just to get used to teh tredleing then carole put a leader on it and made me pretend to spin......with icky orange acyrlic.... but that worked I learned
and today.... after about 10 minutes of screwing up I got back ( mostly) to even laceweight singles
and so will you
vi
now pixie and lanea are waiting........who else?

Cool....I've been watching videos on the net, reading my book and practicing treadling. It's sooo quiet and I love the look of it. Hope Pixie and Lanea gets theirs soon.
And my boss gave me tomorrow off! Plus I'm going to be on vacation all next week so I have lots of time to play and learn. Mmmmm...I'm a happy camper. |

also.....until you get the hang of drafting while you spin ( and it does not take long)
predraft
that's how I learned to spin fine and even on a spindle.... and it translated to the wheel but now i find that i can draft while spinning it took about 10 minutes
however now my fingers and arms hurt
but I been spinning for what about 6 hours?
oye vi
off to bed now it is WAY past my bedtime and I have turned into a pumpkin

don't hurt yourself, you could get some kinda carpel tunnel or something!!
And AZBlue, if you get totally frustrated when you're trying to learn don't get discouraged, you may need someone to help you, or just more time to mess up. If i hadn't had that teacher to show me how to re-attach i think i would have given up at home alone for sure! Once she showed me right, i loved it. So just if you get frustrated at all go have some tea. I bet though you have good luck and catch on perfectly!

| Luckily there are lots of good resources on the net and I think I could stop in at the LYS (they sell wheels, too) and ask questions (and buy some fiber!). First thing I have to learn is how you even begin! |

| Newbie spinners, if you can get your hands on some pencil roving, it is great for learning to spin! You don't have to worry about drafting and can just concentrate on treadling. |
