I am so not a cute person. I made those tiny little mittens from Folk Mittens for a couple of people. I used Red Heart yarn, which to me was like working with styrofoam packing peanuts, on size 3 needles. The whole procedure was agony coupled with time pressures, and just as I'd get phenomenally irritated, I cast off, and LOOK - It's so cute! So then I'd do the second one. I caught myself singing Silver Bells yesterday too.

Speaking for all of us who are religiously opposed to cute - you're scaring us!!!

Isn't the combination of singing "Silver Bells" while creating "cute" a hanging offense?
MMario - I don't live in the 21st century - but I play a character who does. |

Sallyjo, you don't need to worry until you begin singing Little Drummer Boy.

Well, then somebody shoot me.. I was IN THE MALL (which was bad enough), and I found myself singing along to a rather chipper rendition of Little Drummer Boy. I made it through the first "Pa Rum Pa Pum Pum" before I caught myself. Unnerving.
Ya, I don't really do cute either. Pretty, yes. Cute?? Not so much.

Maybe you could embroider a skull and crossbones on each mitten as a festive holiday decoration (you can make it wearing a santa hat if you like).
Kristin, who also does not do cute.

I don't know. I think the very Red-Heartness of it cancels out some of the cute. I mean, yeah, icky sappy name, and I'm sure your knitting was spectacular, but how cute can it really be?
Wait.
You didn't use novelty on the cuffs, did you?
Cuz I'm pretty sure we'd have to bind your thumbs to your big toes and drown you in honey.

Have yourself ... another little rum ball... make the yuletide gay...
Canned music, cuteness and plastic - isn't that what the holidays are all about? We can forgive ourselves anything at this time of year. |

Well, now, you know we're going to have to see a picture of these offensive mittens to see how sugary sweet they really are. And I love, love, love the idea of a Santa skull, Kristin.

I didn't take pictures, and the evidence is all gone. I think I'll remember the skull and crossbones idea for next year. And the worst thing was, when I was done with the mittens, I made seasonal hair ties. It's only a few days out of the year.

You have stepped to a Precipice but you have come back I see. Even sung some hideous Christmas tunes? [crazy] Hmmm. It is lucky that you survived and are still with us. Welcome back sallyjo. We do accept reformed cutepies. ;-)
