I don't know how everyone organizes their dpns, but I finally feel like mine are organized. I wanted to make my own holder, since I've seen them in catalogs and in stores for about $30. I knew it couldn't be that difficult to make. So I bought a pattern - McCalls 3142 - and adjusted it to fit my needles. It's working out beautifully and I love it - I have almost every size needle from 6 inch needles - sizes 1-5 and 8 inch needles - sizes 1- 10 3/4 . I was able to use fabric that I like. If you're looking for a good way to organize your needles - this is a great pattern. I would be willing to give you the measurements that I used for each needle size.

Fantastic! This is going to be a project I tackle ASAP. Thanks for giving the pattern number. Right now, I am sticking my dpns into that green styrophone thing that comes on the bottom of flower arrangements! Not exactly organization, though a slight improvement on having them loose in a drawer!
One thing I forgot to mention about the McCalls pattern - it's a home decorating pattern and I used the silverware carrier for the pattern. It would be very easy to make it without the pattern. If you would like me to measure the pieces and send them to you that would be fine. It would save you some money.
