If you've been following my saga at all, you know that I stopped knitting for a while, even though I was working on socks for ME.
I've since managed to get a bit more done, but, since it's a cable pattern that I'm making up as I go, they're not really conducive to working on on public transit.
However I have re-started the knitting club at my daughter's school (and the number of participants has mysteriously increased since before the holidays), and I did start out to teach one of the kids at the shelter who was really, really interested. In the process, we attracted 3 more kids and a couple of adults, all of whom are now kitting away. I'm so glad that I decided to include a couple of (large) balls of bright, cheap acrylic in my shelter possessions, plus a package of bamboo chopsticks 'just in case'.
So, while I may not be doing much actual knitting, I'm still very much involved. And, it feels great!

Bless your heart, Barbara. Doing good for everyone around you and enjoying it even in the shelter, you are admirable and such a good example to us all. Glad you are able to return to teaching, I just know there is a wonderful job for you where people will appreciate that giving and loving soul of yours!

Barbara I still have that yarn for you. When you get a chance please send me a PM to arrange a meeting time and place. If I could get you all the things you need right now I would but I can't so some yarn is it for now unfortunately.

When you can give to others, it is a sign that you are beginning to lift out of your doldrums. Keep up the good work.

Way to go Barbara. How generous of you. I know what its like, having run a knitting circle every week for three years at a YWCA with many transient women. A lot of work, but huge rewards. Arctic-mermaid |
