Hello all,
After almost a year of inactive lying around i've picked up the lovely lacy shawl again. It was published on canadian living but i can't find it there anymore. I put it down last year because i couldn't find the mistake in pattern nr 3. When i picked it up two nights ago i finally found it and am currently working on pattern nr 4. Just was wondering if there's anybody else working on this shawl.
Greetings Ada

I've seen that shawl before on the site. Very pretty! Would love to make it, but I'd make mistakes without a charted pattern. Good for you that you've been able to start it again AND found your error. Sometimes taking a break from a project helps. Good luck and have fun with it.

That is so beautiful. I've got to make it in some ecru wool. Or maybe blue..or pink..
Thanks ada..

I had forgotten that I had that pattern - it is so lovely! I ordered a cone of yarn on ebay and I think I will use that to make this shawl. How is the pattern? Ate you having any difficulties? Your work look so beautiful.

Thanks for the compliments. At this point the pattern is working up pretty good, not to much errors in it. And with a clear head they're pretty easy to see and fix. Like carrie said it helps when taking a break. You spot errors so much faster after that.

Ada, I've printed and saved the pattern for later, when I have a few shawls under my belt. I'm a newbie to lace and shawls.
You said you found errors in the pattern as printed??
Are you making a list of them as you go?
If so, I would love to know what they are or if there is an "error" list somewhere out there to add to the pattern I just printed from that website.
Are you using the Paton's Kroy Socks 4-ply Yarn they recommended or did you choose something else?
Thanks,
Barbara |

Ada did you use the correction that mew had posted or did you just figure it out yourself?

Zola, I started this shawl last year and figured them out myself at the same time mew posted this. I just saw them to late. When i picked the shawl up again this year, i remembered there was a post about it but couldn't find it anymore. After i was already on to knitting pattern 4 i found this link. In order to stay in pattern for panel 3: Row 9: k3, yo, k1b, yo, k3, yo, k1b, yo, ssk, yo, s1, k2tog, psso should be changed into this: k2, k2tog, yo, k1b, yo, ssk, k2, yo, k1b, yo, ssk, yo, s1, k2tog, psso continue as written Row 11: [yo, k1b, yo, k4] twice should be changed into this: [yo, k1b, yo, k3, k2tog, yo, k1b, yo, ssk, k3] continue as written then Row 13 will be no problem.

I'm currently working on the picot edging and found no more errors after panel 3. So if you're interested in knitting it, i'd say go ahead it makes a beautiful shawl.

OH! Man!!! That is incredibly beautiful!!!
I've copied the instructions from that link. Does anyone know a link where I can find a 'glossary' of the different stiches. I may need a little help along the way, as I've only done a couple small lacey items. Anyone? (how embarrassing). |
