Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has info on famous men who knit? My cousins were here this past weekend and after watching his 2 sisters learning to knit my cousin Joe decided he would like to try it also. He's a 9 yr. old boy who is very into sports and doesn't handle being teased very well, so I want to be able to arm him with some famous names he can toss out there if any of the other boys find out he is doing this and give him a hard time . . .

anyone?

thanks!

According to an article in our local paper, Brad Pitt is a knitter.

GK,

Really? Great, what paper is that? I'd love to be able to give him that with backup, then the kids won't bug him!

thanks!

Don't know about knitters but Rosie (Roosevelt) Greer did (I beleive) needlepoint. He was a football player turned actor in the late sixties, early seventies. I remember seeing a picture of him, a large bearded black man, with whatever he was stitching in a magazine when I was a teenager and thinking how cool.
Happy Knitting!!

There are pictures of Russell Crowe knitting on the internet somewhere.Maybe Someone else can remember where you could get these.I printed them off and keep them in the classroom and it has stopped all teasing when I teach any of the boys to knit.I just point out the pictures on the wall and the boys are most impressed.

I found these links on about.com
http://knitting.about.com/sitesearch.htm?terms=men%20who%20knit&SUName=knitting&TopNode=3042&type=1

They aren't famous men, but I haven't read them all. I'll bet they mention famous men who inspired them or something. Even if they don't it would still show that a lot of men knit! Hope it helps!
