I had to do something similar but not so... mind breaking with my Icarus. I had slipped a stitch and unless you were looking at the back of the work, you couldn't tell that I had made a mistake. So, what did I do? Yup. Frogged just that ladder and redid it. Twice. because it was with the yo on each side and it didn't look right the first time.
I can understand doing it. Good for her that she not only attempted it, but succeeded.

OMG, my heart was pounding and my mouth went dry when I saw the Heartstring link that you posted, Kelly! Viewing her repair photos through to the end is like watching a suspense thriller. Thanks for posting it. Now I know that repair work can be done, just hope that I never have to do anything like that!
I've been checking back on YH's site since the 23rd for a happy end to SKate's near-disaster. I'm so glad for her that she was able to work it through.
I just frogged several rows back on a shawl tonight to fix a mistake (k3tog instead of k2tog). It's amazing how one little stitch can throw the whole thing off. Laddering down like you did, Mamid, makes me shudder. Maybe someday I'll have that kind of skill.

its not skill. Its perfectionism.
I found another mistake in the same area that I laddered down but since it doesn't affect the pattern, I'm leaving it in as my "mistakes so the creator doesn't take offence that its too perfect" mistake.

Oh man. I had to do something like that in the early stages of my Print o' the Wave stole. I wish I'd thought to do it in such an organized manner with pinning the individual ladders and such. Instead, I wound up hunched over my desk, gently tugging apart snarled mohair, and grabbing for anything--pens, paper clips, strips of paper that I rolled up, that would serve as a temporary stitch holder as I painstakingly worked my way back up with two dpns.
Not for the faint of heart, definitely.
