I have one of these and I love it. It holds everything -- scissors, crochet hook, tape measure, pad of paper, row counter, etc -- and is easy to transfer from one bag to another.

Donna,

That's a great little bag!
I use a small zip bag - it's about the same size as a cosmetic bag - and it holds all my bits and pieces like scissors, tape measure and so on.

Ya know I have one of those bags somewhere and I never thought to use it like that. I use one small cosmetic bag but I don't neccesarily like the tangle of all my stuff together. Thanks for the tip I am going to dig mine up. I love to be organized and am a freak for stuff like rubbermaid. I have been looking for the penultimate knitting organizers...knowing I am never going to find perfect but I do so love the hunt.

Crystal, go dig out that travel organizer. You'll love it. The 3 pockets are exactly what I love so much. Everything has its own place and the clear pockets make it easy to find what I am looking for. It really holds a lot. I put my stich holders in a plastic toothbrush tube and my blocking pins in a plastic travel soap dish and they both fit easily in the pockets.

I'm definitely with Crystal on this one, I just love looking at new organizer possibilities, not only for knitting stuff but for travel too! It's so much fun to find the perfect bag, then a year later, more perfect bags. I'm addicted! Who says we can't switch off, to our heart's content? So much fun.

My knitting notions go in a little travel bag that DH got on his one flight on Air China. It has a little zip pouch with a button flap over it, which also has a zip. My snips go in the zippered flap, and all the other bits got in the main pouch. It's perfect.

You all are so organized! When I take my knitting out I just grab the measuring tape, a pencil, counter, a ziplock with my knitting and go.

Maybe that's why I'm always looking for my measuring tape and counters? I am really good at organizing, not so good at keeping things organized.

I like that bag, it would keep the notions from slipping under the couch cushions too!

What a neat bag! If I saw it in a store, I wouldn't have looked twice at it - too small for a travel bag - but as a knitting organizer....Yeah! I just have a little tray with all my markers and gadgets. When I take a project with me, I remove what I need and transfer it to a ziploc bag. Usually, something I need is at home in that little tray. I like your idea cuz I could just grab the whole thing and will be sure to have whatever I need!

will do. The thing about organizing is you don't just get organized and then thats it...you have to regularly go thru and throw out or tidy up...sigh...THAT is the hard part of being organized...but then you do get to play with all your knitting toys...YAY! Just spent a week shopping online & in stores for knit stuff. Treated myself well. I am glad I already have the bag or I would be out shopping for this too.

I use ziploc bags. They are inexpensive and see-through and come in lots of different sizes.

This is the type of bag I have been hunting for. A woman in one of my knitting groups has one very similar, but she is a hair stylist and she said she got hers free with some products she bought a long while back. I didn't know what to call it while Googling and cosmetics bag doesn't really help the search. I may just have to get this! Thanks for the post Donna!

I use a jewelry roll, similar to the link posted. It's pink, with a pink breast cancer ribbon embroidered on it, and it ties with a pink ribbon. It works really well, and I got it on clearence at Dillard's for about $5.

Just re-organized my main bag today. This topic was a good motivator. Couldn't find the travel bag. One of my three daughters probably has it...so i stole a wonderful large striped bag from
Bath and body works from a daughter who had it tucked under her bed. Needed it as my hoody I am knitting was getting to big for its other bag. Perfect and divine justice I call it,LOL! I am organized and knit myself silly today, it was wonderful.

That is a great little notions bag. Isn't it fun how we knitters are always seeing knitting uses for non-knitting items!

I use one of those little freebie Clinique bags they give away when you buy a certian amount of things. It was given to me. Its just a small purple zipper pouch (with a big "C"on it),but it's very sturdy and is just big enough to hold all the things that would otherwise fall into the black hole at the bottom of one of my many too big knitting bags.

I don't know if any of you have every looked at Walker Nylon Mesh Bags. I have 3-4 of them I've found over time and they are absolutely great for knitting notions. I have all my basics ( scissors, tape measure, needles and crochet hook) in a red one that always stays in my bag. And when I need to bring extra like cable needles or stitch markers, they go into a green one. I can reach in and grab what I need based on color. They look nice and since they are mesh, they stay clean and lint free.

Target periodically has wonderful zipper mesh bags 3 for $3.99, I believe. They are in the stationery section. They come in three sizes in the set in three beautiful colors. I use them for knitting notions, cosmetics and the largest is even big enough for some projects. Whenever I see them, I get a set and keep many of my works in progress in different ones. Target also carries a nice set of zippered heavy duty see-thru plastic bags that are slightly larger than the mesh bags. These can also be found in the stationery aisle. They are all inexpensive well made and comparable to those higher prices versions.

Donna, I like those Citta bags. I'm thinking that now that we can't take makeup, etc. on the airplane...this might also be good to put makeup into your suitcase...non-leaky. Would it be, do you think?
