I want to knit up a pair of socks for a very special 20 month old little girl. She has the cutest chubby legs and feet. I am planning on using a plain ribbing pattern for the stretchability factor. However, I am child sizing challenged So, I was quite sneaky yesterday when she was visiting. I suggested to her mother that she let the baby dunk her toes in the pool. Off came the sandals and I stealthily glanced at the size...6 M. Does anyone have a little person at home that wears this size so you can measure their feet and tell me in inches how long this is? And, if you have any idea how wide I should make these would also help.
Thanks muchly....Sue |

Here is a link with all kinds of sizing charts.
Hope this helps, and I love your sneakiness!

| My little girl wears size 9, and her feet are 6" long. There's a 1/3-inch difference between whole sizes, so a size 6 foot should be 5" long. Also, her feet are 6" around, and I make her socks around 5-1/4" to 5-1/2" around (depending on what gives me a nice cast-on number with my gauge for a given yarn) with good results; you might want to go just a tad smaller than that, more like 5" circumference, for the slightly smaller foot. |

Off to cast on some really sweet purple and pink yarn for little Cassie. |
