Don't know where else to post this so I'll try here.
I want to sew an oilcloth tote bag to use as bags for knitted gifts. Found a website of bags/www.tannerbananer.com that are already made but want to make my own. This is a simple tote bag with a bottom and maybe gussets on the side. Have been to the library and taken out books but nothing is what I want. Have been to JoAnn Fabrics and patterns are like $14,,,wow! Anyone have any suggestions where I might find a tote bag pattern to my liking?
Thanks

Here is one http://henriettashandbags.com/free-handbag-patterns.html
and I think if you look at Nancy's notions under free patterns there might be another. Oh ya... home and garden tv's website also has some bag patterns for free. I also found a free download from a company called wildthings. If the above link doesn't work just type in henriettashandbags.com and follow the link to free patterns.

JoAnne Fabrics often has patterns on sale for $.99 or $1.99. Go to the store and sign up for the flyers to be sent to your home or check in your Sunday newspaper.

Also, local quilt shops propably will have patterns. There are a ton of books and individual patterns out right now on tote bags and purses.

Check online on the sites of the sewing machine manufacturers for free patterns and ideas. My favorite for patterns is www.janome.com

Good luck,

Kathie

Awesome! Thanks so much. All suggestions are great. I know this is "off" knitting topic but figured someone on this site would know. And I will be using bags for knitted gifts. Thanks again!
