Hi, I've never tried posting before so I hope this works ...
I have a bookstore on Valencia and I'd like to have a knitting group meet here (it would give me a great excuse to knit and claim to be working!). Maybe a knitting night? Unfortunately, I run the store myself & so can't get downtown to hang out w/ the BAWDies (hi y'all!).
Would anybody be interested? What about during the day on weekends? Almost anytime would be great. I'd also be willing to teach people how to knit but I'm pretty sure everybody here already knows more than me!

Hi Amanda! The BAWDies group is always looking for new places in the Bay Area to meet. And in fact we've even discussed a bookstore as an ideal location. Many of us come from outside SF, so a location close to public transportation is a plus. Where exactly are you located and do you know if you're near a BART or Muni stop?

Hi Amanda!

I would love to meet and knit at your bookstore! I have to admit, though, that knitting in a bookstore could be dangerous on my wallet (I love books!).

Hi everyone!
Actually, my store is on Valencia between 16th and 17th. That means it's near a bunch of bus lines that cross at 16th and Valencia and the BART is a block away at 16th and Mission. 16th between Mission & Valencia is not a block I like to walk after, say, midnight, but until then it's fine... Valencia itself is sort of getting renewed along here, there's three new stores (including mine)that have been redone and a nice new coffee and food place almost next door - very useful when I need caffeine! We're closed on Wednesday (I have to do my laundry sometime) but we're open every other day, noon-9 or so. So, pretty much any time is good!

Welcome Amanda!!! Meeting up on a weekend afternoon in a bookstore sounds great, and like Nancy, I love books so I don't know what this may do to my wallet as well. I believe it now when I talk to people and tell them knitting can be obsessive. I'm always thinking about the next project.

Let's get together!

Lucy

Hi, Amanda and welcome: Like Nancy and Lucy I too love books. I don't dare go to the Friends of the Library book sale as I would have to take an eighteen wheeler with me to haul home the books. Sounds like a plan as well as an excuse to meet at "your place." Take care. Beverley

PS: You realize that you are getting mixed up with a group of compulsive knitters, readers, talkers, etc., and we have a wonderful time.

I am a confessed book-aholic! I love reading. One summer between 4-5th grad we moved to Montana. I was so shy...I didn't want to leave the house except to go to the public library 2 blocks from home. I entered a reading contest that summer. I read 265 books in 9 weeks!!! I won!!!! It was an awful time in my life that move!!! But the books were my best friends. Thank God there are talented writers in the world! I can't wait to check out your shop. So when are we going to meet. I want to see Bev!!!!

Hi, Vick: We have a standing date. Years ago I heard a song and perhaps I won't repeat the line I remember here as it should be for us in the "Downtown SF Knitters"--I shall post it on BAWDies as its a BAWDies kind of thing. Take care. Beverley

Any time on a weekend is great, just let me know! I'm working on a throw for my sister's wedding present, so I could use the knitting time (the wedding is right before Thanksgiving - eek!)

Hi, Amanda: I shall alert the BAWDies. We are a very articulate group, perhaps you noticed. Take care. Beverley
