Hi!
I'm crocheting an afghan of hexagons. The hexagons I'm using are 3 rows--Chain 6, join, then (omitting the starting chains at the beginning of each row for ease of describing the instructions)
ROW 1: [dc 3 tog, ch3] around, for 6 clusters
ROW 2: [dc 3 tog, ch3] twice in each of 6 ch3 spaces, for 12 clusters
ROW 3: [3dc, ch3, 3dc] in each "corner" ch3 space, followed by 3dc in each "side" ch3 space. Basically, you just alternate them: corner, side, corner, side - 6 corners and 6 sides. No ch1 or anything between dc groups except at the corners.
Does anyone know how to make a half hexagon based on this to fill in the edges of the afghan? I'd be happy to clarify the instructions in any way.
Many, many thanks!!! |

First determine how your hexagons will be joined. Do you need a half hexagon with a point in the center or one with a flat surface in the center? Most of the time it will be a point at the center top.
ROW 1: [dc 3 tog, ch3] around, for 4 clusters and 3 spaces. then turn
Row 2: For a hexagon with a flat surface in the center: work dc 3 tog in center space.
For a hexagon with a center point: work dc 3 tog, ch 3, dc 3 tog in center space.
Row 2: dc 3 tog in edge stitch using a ch 3 as first dc, [dc 3 tog, ch3, dc 3 tog}in next space, [dc 3 tog] in center space,[dc 3 tog, ch3, dc 3 tog}in next space, dc 3 tog at the edge
Row 3 is worked the same as directions.
Sometimes the appearance is slightly different between hexagons worked in the round and half hexagons worked back and forth.
